Ever wondered how much beauty and elegance a decked-up console table can add to your home?

The Urli or flower bowl is one of the traditional and creative ways to do this. I'm sure many of us who are from India or have visited India would have seen this in corridors, entry way, lobby area, etc. Typically, the Urli is filled with water up to the brim and has scented flowers or flower petals floating on the surface, as a sign of welcoming/greeting people. As it could be a cumbersome process to keep emptying and re-filling the contents of the bowl (with natural flowers) periodically, an alternative, less-strenuous option could be using artificial décor including colorful beads, marbles, synthetic flowers, tea light candles, or any other craft items you can think of. I came across this box of unscented sun-kissed red twig balls and palm flower mix vase filler (hardly $15) at one of the home décor stores and grabbed it at once as it is a rare-to-find combination and most importantly matched the 'red' in my Urli.

As I had quite a few of them left over after filling the bowl, I randomly strew them over the console table and put up a few artificial plants on either side of the Urli to give the finishing touch to the console table. And for the bottom half of the table, I used these crafted designer wine bottles from Etsy that are beautiful and inexpensive, while some may prefer using baskets or cabinets to store essentials, which is not a bad idea either. As the console table is spotted in the entry way in most homes, it is a common practice to pair it up with an idol/painting of Lord Ganesha, the Lord of all auspicious beginnings. This is undoubtedly my most favorite corner of our home.
